Jemaine never rests
So the full trailer for Jared & Jerusha Hess‘ new movie, GENTLEMEN BRONCOS, is out and it’s looking quite different from their past films (Napolean Dynamite and Nacho Libre). In fact, it looks a little more slapstick and a little less constrained and held-back, which was their distinctive style in the last couple of films. They’ve taken a bunch of stock character actors, and the budget Shia LaBeouf kid from The Forbidden Kingdom…but the real star in this trailer (other than Mike White with a little too much facial hair?) is JEMAINE CLEMENT from musical duo/television/stand-up/radio show FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS. Which is kick-ass, may I add. Him in particular, he reminds me of a close friend of mine quite a bit. But here’s the trailer for the film, listen for his hilarious accent:
In fact, the new series of Flight Of The Conchords just came out on DVD over here in the UK, though I already saw them all a while back. The series didn’t start too well, there were few laugh-out-loud moments, but by my favourite episode of the series, it’s hilarious, and there are jokes galore. One of the reasons why this particular episode is so awesome is because it was directed by MICHEL GONDRY, one of the most talented directors of our generation. I recently purchased his Directors Label DVD which features all of his music videos and short films as well as interviews and insights into the production of his work, and it’s awesome stuff. You may know that he made films like Science of Sleep and Eternal Sunshine, and more recently, Be Kind, Rewind. But yes, here’s the best song (in my opinion) of the new series, featured in the best episode of the new series, the sequence directed by Michel Gondry. Shit-hot:
“Too Many Dicks On The Dancefloor” – Flight Of The Conchords (zshare)
The above track is just a rip I think, but it’s very good quality. The new series is OUT ON DVD NOW, and the new album, I Told You I Was Freaky, is available to preorder and is out on OCTOBER 20TH. Get it! It’s better than The Lonely Island and The Mighty Boosh and similar ideas of blending music and comedy – mainly because they’re New Zealanders, and I’ve always had a thing for Kiwis…but also because they hit the right notes more often than not! Yes boss.
